Jones Brothers boats can be configured with several seating options. With the exception of the Cape Fisherman 26, none of the base models come standard with a seat or lean post. The three options are a box seat, aluminum lean post or fiberglass lean post livewell.
While all the seating options provide storage, the units are intended for different boating needs. The standard box seat provides a large storage bin. The aluminum lean post is much taller, includes a small storage compartment under the fold-up seat, and has plenty of room for a large cooler between the support legs. The fiberglass lean post livewell has a large bait tank, includes a cutting board on the tank lid, and has plenty of room for tackle lockers and drawers.
The Box Seat is a simple storage bin with a hinged lid, and is an available option on all base-model Jones Brothers boats except the Cape Fishermain 26. The seats come in two sizes. The small box is only used on the Bateau 17. Compared to the other seating options, the box seat is has a relatively low seat height – 22″ with the cushion.
A seat cushion is standard on all box seats installed on the Cape Fisherman. The cushion is also available for the Bateau models as an option.
The Box Seat Reversible Back Assembly provides seat-back support. The reversible assembly can be positioned so that people can sit facing forward or backward. This assembly is standard on box seats installed in the Cape Fisherman 20 and 23, and is available as an option on the Bateaus and Cape Fisherman 18.

The Aluminum Lean Post provides a comfortable surface to lean against when piloting a boat. It can also be used as a tall seat (33″) and has a convenient foot rest. The lean post has a grab rail on the back with four rod tubes, and has a small storage compartment under the seat cushion. There is ample space for a large cooler between the legs. Note: A 95 QT Ultra-Cool is about the largest icebox that will fit under the seat (W28xL18xH21), but due to the height, a cooler this size will have to be pulled out from under the lean post to be fully opened.

The pilot and passengers can also comfortably sit on the lean post, and tuck their feet onto the foot rest.
